Skin
care is a multi-billion dollar industry with products ranging from cleansing,
to exfoliating, moisturizing and sunscreen. Because of the increased attention
to skin health products now a days are using more natural derivatives such as
fruits, plants, and herbs. This is a huge change from the dehydrating
astringents that were used previously. Skin care now is focused on making the
skin glow and appear youthful.
Since
our day-to-day activity tens to leave our skin dirt, sweaty and oily it is
important to have a skin care regiment that rejuvenates, rehydrates and
cleanses the pores. The four most important parts of a skin care regiment
include cleansing, exfoliating, moisturize and protect.
A
cleanser is the first key to the healthy skin you want. Finding a cleanser that
works with your skin is pertinent. Not everyone’s skin is the same, so
determining what works for you may be a challenge but once you find it never
give it up. Avoid using regular old bar soap, it leaves the skin dry and you
don’t have to go expensive. More money doesn’t mean better quality. Always wash
your face at night before you go to bed. Avoid washing your face too often
throughout the day because you strip the skin of its natural oils. Do not wash
more than 2 times a day.
Exfoliate
your skin to remove old dead skin cells and remove years off of your
appearance. There are three ways to exfoliate, with scrubs, microdermabrasion
and chemical peels and retinoids. Facial scrubs should be gentle on the skin
and used once a week to remove the top layer of dead skin cells. If you can
afford microdermabrasion or chemical peels schedule your appointments for once
a month.
Moisturizers
are a much-needed re-hydration for the skin. Because our skin regulates what is
being absorbed and what needs to be evaporated it determines when it needs
moisturizing. If you use a moisturized your skin will lock in the moisture
throughout the day leaving your skin looking fresh and youthful.
Apply
sunscreen whenever you will be in the sun. Many skin care companies are adding
sunscreen into their moisturizers to boost their product lines. The sun is the
number one cause of wrinkles and dehydration. So to keep your skin healthy put
on that sunscreen even if you aren’t planning on being in the sun, you may just
change your plans and head outside.
